Sashi Kumar has pioneered newscasting and current affairs on television in India, starting with Doordarshan. He later launched Asianet, India's first satellite regional channel and subsequently went on to set up the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai. In an illustrious career spanning three decades, he has worked as Chief Producer PTI-TV; DGM,PTI;  West Asia Correspondent for "The Hindu" and is currently a Member of the Empowered Committee on Information,Communication and Technology in the Prime Minister's Office.He has also directed a Hindi feature film ,Kaya Taran
