1. Awards to Amrita TV : During December, various forums presented Amrita TV with accolades --
* The Forum for Better Television presented six Awards in the telefilms category --out of which "Errul megangalkkum sooryresmikalkkum madhyee" won three Awards for Best Telefilm,Best Scriptwriter, Best Editing ;while "Neermathalathende pookal" bagged three Awards for Best Direction,Best Cinematography and Best Sound Recording
*The Kerala Film Audience Council presented the Best Telefilm Award to "Neermathalathende pookal"
* The LIVE Chancellor Awards honoured Amrita TV with three recognitions viz--Best TV Channel ,Best Interview-based Programme for "Samagamam" and Special Jury Mention for "Ularakal"
*The Chitram Television Awards bestowed Amrita TV with five Awards --Best TV Channel,Best Anchor for "Samagamam", while "Chitrashalbham" got three Awards for Best Direction,Best Serial and Best Actress.
2. "Super Star Junior" Launched : Following the overwhelming response to Amrita TV's "Super Star" which was acclaimed as the finest music reality show in South Indian television,the channel launched "Super Star Junior", a talent hunt show targetting the 10-15 age-group. Eleven contestants were shortlisted from the 10,000-odd aspirants who had registered for auditions.The popularity of the programme can be also be gauged from the millions of bloggers who visit the Super Star Forum in the channel's website.Please click here for the blog.
3.Christmas Exclusives on Amrita TV : To foster the spirit of Christmas among its viewers worldwide,Amrita TV telecast "Gloria Deo " billed as South India's biggest International Christmas Concert featuring celebrated musicians from across the globe--e.g.Benny Prasad who has performed at Olympics and FIFA and toured over 100 countries;Cindy Wilcox,Professor,Music,Liberty University & musician from UK;and Emaurie Woods,blue black singer from USA,Anil Kant from Mumbai --as also Super Star Troupe comprising Sangeeth,Job and Stephen. On Christmas Eve ,there was a live telecast of Mass from a prominent church in Trivandrum. Likewise on Christmas Day there was a special X'mas Exclusive of "Super Star Junior", where the 11 contestants including the jury sang Christmas songs.Amrita TV also started serialising, on prime time, "Bible Stories",an acclaimed Hollywood production dubbed in Malayalam
4. New Year Live Telecast : A three-hour New Year programme was telecast Live from Fantasy Park,Kerala's first amusement park.The program had songs from most of the Super Star contestants including Sangeeth, Job, Ajay, Mithu, Sarath, Lakshmi V.R, Athira and Lakshmi.B, as also a blend of choreographed performances,magic show ,chendamelam with a fireworks display when the clock struck twelve.
5. News Impact Stories : A series of investigative stories exposing corruption in the Guruvayur temple attracted widespread media attention and action by the government . The channel's coverage on Doha Asian Games with focus on participation of Team Kerala was one of the special attractions in December
6. New Programs : Amrita TV launched a morning breakfast show, "Innu Ravale", which besides highlighting news headlines for the day from various newspapers/magazines,primarily covers soft focus stories in diverse fields in a new refreshing format. Another program launched during the month was "Brand New" which provides a snapshot of new films ,songs and scenes from latest Malayalam and Tamil films |
