Sukumaravilasam is an unusual situation comedy that features a different guest  celebrity each week. The action takes place at a fictional open air tea shop. The tea shop owner was once a performing artist, but his dance troupe failed and now he and his assistant run a humble little shop that has become a favorite rest stop for actors and film personalities.

            The show begins with a short comedy skit involving three characters, the shop owner, his assistant and a regular customer who is a feisty little local politician who always has plenty to say about the news of the day, but is perpetually short of money to pay his bill. The subject matter of the skit is usually a current news story and what our threesome has to say about it. In the midst of the discussion a visitor arrives to have tea.  Each episode will feature a different guest visitor- a popular actor/film personality, who will play the part as themselves.       

            The shop owner is a big fan of movies and music and is always happy to treat his guests to tea.  As they take their refreshment our threesome ask questions such as what their current project is, how they got started in the business, what artist and films they like and so on, giving the viewers a chance to get to know the star and  hear what is happening with their lives and careers.
