We caught up with the Chief Executive Editor, Neelan at the News studio:

What is the mission of the Amrita News?
“… Amrita News has no communal, political or religious inclinations. In this rat race, it is hard to keep quality and good tendencies and people tend to take what is given to them. Amrita TV is going to and is already bringing about change in television culture..”
“.. we are setting a trend that other channels are emulating..” Neelan says that Amrita TV is influencing the television culture for the better simply by producing quality work. “..This is creating pressure for other channels to also improve their standards”.

What’s special or different about Amrita News?
“..75% of the News everywhere revolves around politicians, the casualties is the common man and his problems. We are trying to give a balanced view, concentrating on including clips about the environment, arts the people, their problems etc.”.
“The style of presentation is different here (Amrita TV), we are focusing on the information. Every story has a stripe associated with it so a viewer who walks-in between a sentence, understands the story”.
Our News is the fastest to reach the people. For example in Kannur a reporter can shoot, edit on his laptop and send the story from an STD booth…Almost real-time!

How is your team at the News Desk?
“Being in news is tough, I have seen six generations of reporters and journalists who have passed through me, the team at Amrita TV is young but enthusiastic, hard workingand are fast learners. Just as they are learning from me, I also learn from them”.

How do you like working at Amrita TV?
“I love my job!”
