It is a wide vivacious curve tinged with a touch of shyness, that instantly transforms her from a simple, homely girl-next-door to an enticingly charming woman .
The contestants of Super Dancer-2 found the Thanmatra heroine an eminently likeable
person .The likeability factor sprung not just from the endearing smile, but also her unassuming manners and unpretentious behavior.
Few suspected that her modest demeanor camouflaged an enviable acting talent – until 2004, when the ‘curtain’ went up to reveal the undoubted potential , as she almost simultaneously entered the Hindi film industry through ‘Rules:Pyar Ka Super-hit Formula’, took her bow in Telugu with Golmaal’ and had a sensational opening in Tamil in ‘Unnai Saranadainthen’ . Meera is probably the only Indian actress to have debuted in 3 languages in the same year.
The next year saw the 23 year old being baptized in Malayalam as a middle-aged housewife and mother of two in Blessy’s much acclaimed ‘Thanmatra’.
The appreciation of audiences for her performance was aptly reflected in peer recognition when she won the Tamil Nadu State Govt Award for Best Actress in Tamil.
Earlier, modeling had smoothened the prickly path to stardom. Her ‘Om Cricketaya Namaha’ Rangoli ad for the ICC world Cup in 2002 propelled her to immediate fame. This in turn brought in plum corporate offers from Pears, Chennai Silks, Fair & Lovely, Coke , Alpenliebe etc.
Even as she juggles acting assignments in 4 languages with modeling assignments and compering for Discovery Channel, Meera an Advertising diploma holder is actively considering an alternative career in Public Relations.
The psychology graduate was quick to read the mind set of the competitors. Her trade-mark wide smile in place, she joined one of the participants on stage during his performance and with a few steps, waltzed her charming way into the lasting memories of the participants and viewers .
