It seemed to the Super Star-2 audience that the unpretentious Tippu, with his serious demeanor and bespectacled face would have been more ‘in place’ jotting down derivations on a blackboard than crooning into a microphone in the middle of a full-fledged orchestra.
Perhaps it is because of this quiet, laid back approach that the name Tippu takes time to register with Kerala crowds, though he has been around in the playback scene for more than a decade.
Tippu did his 1st recording for a Tamil movie, way back in 2001 and has been steadily climbing up the ladder in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films; he has even sung for a couple of Malayalam films- ‘Chakkaramuthu’ and ‘Rock & Roll’. The favourite of most Music Directors in the South, he is said to be AR Rehman’s first choice when it comes to trendy numbers.

Naresh Iyer breezed into the October sultriness that prevailed in the studio, like a whiff of fresh spring air.
With his casual attire, his even more casual attitude & crisp corkscrew curls that rivaled Deepak Dev’s gelled ringlets, Naresh seemed just like one of the contestants.
For, the youngest super star in the Hindi playback industry was just 3 0r 4 years older than most of the contestants ; besides he had been through the grind of a reality show himself not very long ago

An impressive line-up of celebrities from the music field – Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, Usha Uthup, Anuradha Sriram- had ushered in each new level of Super Star-2 .They had all been accorded a red carpet reception .
But there was something extra special in the spontaneous warmth showered on Sreenivas, who was in town to cut the ribbon for the 5th level of the star show; the welcome had an edge of pride in it - pride in the achievements of a native son who was on an aarohana in the playback circles of Chennai & Mumbai. Srinivas was a Keralite whose musical talent had been kindled by the devotional strains of bhajans he listened to, as a toddler on the streets of Trivandrum during the spiritual month of Margazhi.

.Anuradha Sriram |
The contestants, judges & crew waited in a fever of expectancy to see what sort of performance Anuradha Sriram would present on the podium.
Amongst the Celebrity Roll who had graced the Super Star-2 stage, Hariharan & Sadhana Sargam were renowned playback singers ;they sang some of their most popular & best loved numbers. Usha Uthup, who rules the Indian Pop scene with occasional forays into film songs sang a bit of both.
Anuradha is an accomplished Carnatic Vocalist with over a 1000 concerts to her credit; she was trained in Hindustani Classical singing ; her Pop album ‘Chennai Girl’ has caught on in a big way in the South.

When the 3rd stage of Super Star-2 was to be inaugurated, none other than the Queen of Pop herself, Usha Uthup turned up to hum start the rounds on its way.
Attired in her characteristic kanjeepuram silk saree, long plaited hair adorned with flowers and big bindi dotting her forehead, Usha Didi arrived at the studios beaming with a smile that put the arc lights to shame.
The participants were bowled over by the larger-than-life legend who had sung in over 20 languages and had out performed 3 generation of singers.

To the sheer delight - and utter disbelief of music buffs in Kerala, Sadhana Sargam came down to Trivandrum on Thursday this week to take part in Amrita TV’s Super Star-2.
In an unprecedented move she joined the Super Star sets to convey her best wishes to the contestants before they embarked on the 2nd round of Super Star-2. , the first edition of which had trail-blazed its way into television annals.
This is the first time she has consented to participate in a reality show in Kerala. Super Star-2. that is set to script new epochs in reality history was inaugurated last week by non other than Hariharan.

Hariharan, ace composer, ghazal guru and gifted playback singer opened up Amrita TV’s Super Star-2 on a high note, the first time he had ever launched a reality show.
He made room in his crowded itinerary to fly down from Mumbai , just to set the ball rolling on a programme that had established the reality show genre in Kerala.
The inaugural ceremony took place at the Amrita TV studios , before a crowd that filled the hall and overflowed into the grounds. He was in the midst of a team of 20 final contestants of ‘Super Star-2 alongwith the jury panel of the show.This exciting interaction will be unveiled from July 20 at 7.30 pm
