Naresh Iyer Unleashes Passion On The Stage
Naresh Iyer breezed into the October sultriness that prevailed in the studio, like a whiff of fresh spring air.
With his casual attire, his even more casual attitude & crisp corkscrew curls that rivaled Deepak Dev’s gelled ringlets, Naresh seemed just like one of the contestants.
For, the youngest super star in the Hindi playback industry was just 3 0r 4 years older than most of the contestants ; besides he had been through the grind of a reality show himself not very long ago.
Naresh, who was one of the 25 finalists of Channel V’s music talent hunt show, ‘Super Singer’ judged by none other than A.R. Rehman & Adnan Sami, found himself in the classic situation of losing a battle & winning the war – he was eliminated from the programme, but was offered an invitation to a recording by Rehman.
Without a second thought, the commerce graduate who was headed for a career in Chartered Accountancy, changed horses in mid-stream. He had such faith in Rehman’s word that he threw his career to the winds, and flew down to Chennai to charter a new course for himself.
The rest is History.
Robaroo & Paathsala became the new anthem of the youth, sweeping youngsters from the north to the south with its vibrant rhythms and painting India in the colours of a new spring.
Naresh had intended to use a CD, but he was so taken up by the ambience of the Super Star sets & the presence of our desi super star Stephen, that he gave an unplugged performance, that gave each plenty of scope for improvisation.
With a passion that could be felt in every line, an expressiveness that seemed to imbue every word with new meaning, Naresh gave the stars of the future, object lessons in dynamism & stage effect.
As the raw energy that he emanated vibrated from every nook & corner of the sets, the contestants warmed upto him and took him to their hearts as ‘one of their own kind’. |
