Srinivas, the second judge to adorn the Super Troupe Celebrity panel, was full of encouragement and reassurance for the contestants, as the teams sang and danced through the rounds, in sync with the orchestra.
The sight of the talented youngsters performing at their passionate best possibly
touched a nostalgic chord in his memory and transported him back many years to the days of his youth.
Srinivas had faced years of bitter struggle and recurring disappointment before slowly ascending the steep slippery slope of success.
So he knew what it was to ache for recognition, to knock at doors that remained obstinately closed and to swing perpetually between hope and despair.
Motivated by an ambition that had refused to lie dormant, his talent had driven him to renounce a ‘safe’ job and to persevere through years of singing tracks for advertising jingles confident that, he will triumph in the end.
And triumph he did : his first song ‘Sorgam enbathu namakku’ from the film Nammavar
was a run away hit and ‘En Uyire’ from the Maniratnam Uyire made him the stuff of legends. Today Srinivas is not only a nationally renowned playback singer working with the best music composers of the country, he is a Music Director in his own right.
Srinivas was amazed at the professional performance of the keyboardist of ‘Young Stars’ ; his improvisations so excited him that he jumped on to the stage and gave an impromptu performance. The participants were thrilled at the effusiveness of his praise and the warmth of his appreciation.
The off-the-cuff act underlined the fact that the sensitive singer hadn’t forgotten the thorny paths he had trodden, before stardom came knocking at his door.
